Changing Land Use/Cover Scenario: A Case Study of Sedawgyi Region of Myanmar (Burma)
- Land is one of the most important components of the life support system, which has been over used and even abused over the centuries. In a predominantly agricultural country, land comes first. Due to growth of population, soil is used increasingly and in the long run it poses a threat to its productivity. In fact, careless use can damage soil with consequent reduction in quality and quantity of cropland, grassland and forest. The other problems are soil erosion, degradation of watersheds and catchment areas, deforestation and desertification. As land is a finite resource and it is very essential that land use is properly planned, so that, the demands are met in an integrated fashion.
